	An undertaker's apprentice and necromancer. As a child, Miranda was adopted by Master Eldridge and trained as his sole apprentice. Under his strict and isolated upbringing, Miranda dutifully learned his trade, only rarely glimpsing the secrets of his arcane Art. However, upon her master's unexplained disappearance, Miranda finds herself in charge of the funeral parlour... with free access to Eldridge's books as well. Outraged that he would leave her to struggle with the business alone, Miranda turns to magic to hunt down her missing master. But self-taught spell casting can easily go awry, and Miranda winds up conjuring Tobin and binding both of them together. This does little to improve her irascible temper.
	A ghost and former librarian. Tobin died inside his library when it burned, and the mingled ashes of man and books (with an accidental infusion of powerful magic) results in a rather complicated situation. Among other things, he can "turn into" any literary character from the books. It's a most curious fate, but he takes it with his usual amiable good humor. Still, it's no easy unlife being bound to Miranda, and especially when there may be more than personal inconvenience at stake.
